The Minister of Education, Prof. G.L. Peiris said after the event of vaccination drive for school teachers and non-academic staff today (Monday).
All teachers in the Colombo region will be vaccinated today and tomorrow. The Minister of Education said that there are 242,000 teachers in the country and most of them have already been vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the media questioned whether the teachers ‘and principals’ associations had withdrawn from online teaching activities due to the arrests that took place during the protest.
Responding to this, the Minister said that only a few teachers have taken steps to withdraw from teaching today, although it is not a permanent solution to pursue online education.
